Not every teacher is going to have their yoga teacher certification. Not every teacher wants to. The good news is you don’t have to!
Yoga 4Classrooms
Lisa Flynn, E-RYT 500, RCYT founded Yoga 4 Classrooms in 2009 with a mission to empower youth with the skills they need to healthy, happy, resilient at school, at home and throughout their lives. Y4C provides professional development trainings and research and trauma-informed curricula, resources and consulting to school professionals, schools and related organizations that support the social, emotional, cognitive and physical well-being of children, youth and the adults who serve them. Yoga 4 Classrooms’ sustainable program and products have been implemented in thousands of classrooms and schools worldwide with significantly positive outcomes.

A deck of cards costs $29.95 on Amazon, and you now you can download the ebook and share on the white board with the class for only $14.00 from the Yoga4Classrooms website.
I love this card deck even as a registered yoga teacher. When I’m teaching class, I’m wearing the hat of the teacher and sometimes, it’s not so easy to switch hats in the middle of teaching and instantaneously become a yoga teacher. At a quick glance, these cards allow for mindful movement throughout the course of the instructional day and the kids love it!
They are divided into six different categories: seated postures, standing postures, meditations, breathwork, wellness, and character building. I like to pull cards at the end of the day for the following day, so everything is all set and ready to go.
Like Brain Gym that can also be used by teachers without certification, Yoga4Classrooms is mindful movement and therefore does not require any formal instruction to implement.

I’m currently enrolled in the 95 – Hour RCYT program, and I cannot say enough about it. What I love most about it is it has a trauma informed focus, which is in perfect alignment with my mission for working with children and families.
I thought that I’d be able to efficiently instruct yoga classes to children with the background I already had from my practice, my teaching experience, and the 200 RYT certification I hold. BOY WAS I WRONG!! There are SO many differences in the anatomy alone that I was not aware of when instructing yoga to this age group.
In addition to this program, I’m also enrolled in a 300 – Hour training, and it’s been very interesting doing them side-by-side. Talk about two different worlds!
